Who are we
WHO ARE WE?
For those of you wondering what tribe is—tribe student ministries is the 7th-12th grade students of Golden Acres Baptist Church, commonly referred to as tribe or GABC students! There have been a few changes this year— I will now be over both Jr. High and Sr. High ministry. We have also changed the grades to 7th – 12th instead of 6th – 12th. Because of Corona Virus pandemic shutting down our summer plans, this will actually not be a huge change since the now 6th graders have not been with the student ministry this summer.
tribe comes from Revelation 14:6 which says— 6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
A tribe is a group of people united by kinship or habitation. We are in a unique position at Golden Acres where our student ministry is made up of several different school systems, which means many of our students are very different from each other. This is a beautiful thing because there is one thing that brings us all together and that is JESUS. Native American tribes were very territorial and not easily open to outsiders. However, when they let you in, you were in for life! They essentially adopted you as one of their own. Christ views us in the same way! When you surrender your life to Jesus, you become His. John 1:12 says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” Jesus is what unites us, what brings us together!
The mission of tribe student ministries is to see this generation be set apart for the sake of Jesus Christ, with the Gospel, by the Gospel, and for the Gospel.
- with the Gospel — I understand what Christ did for me.
- by the Gospel — I have surrendered my life to Jesus.
- for the Gospel — I live out the gospel every day.
